What to Do If You and Your Family Are Quarantined at Home

May 23, 2020 0 Comments

In June, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a swine flu global pandemic---a new strain of flu that spread easily and widely between people, and an outbreak occurring in at least two regions of the world.

The press implied that WHO had proclaimed a major, world-wide disaster only days away. Mexico was virtually shut down as businesses, schools, and churches closed and people stayed home in droves---a self-imposed quarantine. Governments quarantined travelers from Mexico. When discovered to be less severe than outbreaks of usual flu strains---a "moderate" outbreak in WHO terminology, folks shook their heads and pooh-poohed the global pandemic.

However, this was the way the 1918-1919 Spanish Flu pandemic started: a summer outbreak with many people ill but few deaths, but autumn brought a second wave of the illness where at least 21 million people died worldwide.

Lesson: don't totally ignore doomsayers; plan for possible pandemics.

Whenever there is a pandemic, there will be isolations and quarantines for days or weeks. Prepare now.

Follow all preparations for natural disasters in other posts in this blog. But there are additional foci when planning for quarantine.

For example, the kinds of foods you store should include large amounts of easy-to-digest foods in case someone contracts the illness. The BRAT diet is one possibility: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. Bananas are difficult to store, although they can be frozen in their skins and used in banana bread or blended beverages. Or you might try dehydrated banana chips or canned baby food. As for toast, unless you have a humongous freezer for storing many loaves of bread, you must have ingredients handy for making your own---and an alternative means of baking. Chicken soup is another good item.

Dehydration may need to be combated---as in the 2008 cholera epidemics in Africa. Water and juice are easiest to have on hand. Don't rely on sodas as they dehydrate rather than rehydrate a person.

Disposable plates, cups and tableware may be especially helpful, as are toilet paper, paper towels, and facial tissues. Plastic garbage bags of various sizes are useful, as well as a variety of sizes of baggies.

Make it possible to hang laundry in the sun---the first and best sanitizer. And, in the event of power outage, you may need a scrub board.

Water may need to be purified; use bleach or other disinfectant chemicals (chlorine, or medical-grade hydrogen peroxide). Or you can collect PET (a type of polyethylene) bottles, fill them with water and put them in the sun for five to six hours or for two cloudy days. Save the water in other safe containers so you can continually refill the PET bottles.

General medical supplies to have are a thermometer, medical gloves, and surgical-quality face masks. Ask your physician to help you safely and legally get a stock of prescription medications used by family members. Antibacterial wipes are also important.

These are just basics. In addition to gathering supplies, you would do well to research further to determine just what you need. But get to it---before it is too late.

Snus Flavors To Try

May 23, 2020 0 Comments
Okay, so let's say that the main reason people who want to stop smoking is they have yet to find the way that works for them. Or, they have yet to find a way to replace whatever it is smoking gives them in the way of pleasure, stress reduction (though smoking stresses the body out completely) or satisfaction in some way. Let's look at some of the ways people do stop and there are more ways to stop smoking than you may have thought.

Snus is a Swedish way to enjoy tobacco. In a purer, cleaner, and more flavorful way. Snus is a revolutionary way to enjoy your tobacco. The Swedes have been doing it for two centuries now. Some purists love their snus loose. Taking a piece between their fingertips, they simply pop it under their upper lip. However, there’s another way to do it nowadays. Your snus comes in a little pouch called a “portion”. The portion varies in size, depending on the amount of snus you want to take.

When you think of flavors nicotine pouches do not spring to mind. Flavors are associated with sweets and confectionery rather than with tobacco. But when you insert a snus portion under your upper lip, you are getting ready for a taste experience that’s beyond anything you’ve experienced in the past.

Check out a lot of that you can try at their online site. Enjoy fruit flavored snus such as bergamot, raspberry, and melon. You may also try mint and sweets. The selection of flavors gives something to suit every palate and the most discerning of users. Whether you enjoy dark chocolate, aniseed or licorice, you’ll find a taste to savor and enjoy. A rich experience awaits you.

Quit Smoking, Try Snus. What is Snus?

May 23, 2020 0 Comments
So many reasons people use when they say they want to quit smoking and some people mean it but many people have yet to find the reason that will motivate them to finally quit smoking once and for all.

There is acupuncture, meditation, hypnosis, over the counter drugs, prescribed drugs by a physician, nicotine replacements like nicotine gum, nicotine patches, nicotine lollipops (can you imagine?), lozenges and pouches that contain nicotine, herbal supplements and the old fashioned cold turkey method.
Did you know there is another way?
According to Wikipedia, Snus is a moist powder smokeless tobacco product originating from a variant of dry snuff in early 18th-century Sweden. It is placed in the upper lip for extended periods. Snus is not fermented. Although used similarly to American dipping tobacco, snus does not typically result in the need for spitting, and, unlike naswar, snus is steam-pasteurized.

Sale of snus is illegal in all the European Union countries except for Sweden. It is also the most common form of tobacco in Norway. Some EU countries like Estonia allow the sale of snus-like products that contain nicotine but no tobacco. Local varieties of snus, growing in popularity in the United States, have been seen as an alternative to smoking, vaping, e-smoking, chewing, dipping, dissolvable and snuff tobacco. However, US-manufactured snus does not have the same production standards or ingredients as Swedish snus, and typically uses significant amounts of sweeteners.

Snus can be bought online and you may check it at where you can buy
Snus pouches. They are flavored (or unflavored depending on your preference) tobacco pouches that you place under your upper lip. Once in position, the snus discretely releases the tobacco within, providing the user with the same nicotine buzz as other methods, but without any of the unpleasant side effects associated with something like smoking.

How To Keep Your Home Clean and Sanitized After ECQ

May 14, 2020 0 Comments
A clean place is always the best place to live in. We may not be the cleanest person in the world, but when it comes to our family, we must do it to prevent them from getting sick. Since we are in enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a lot of time to do the cleaning in order to stay safe and healthy. Even after ECQ, we must keep our home clean.

Some people find it difficult to clean their homes especially if it is either big, have kids, or have pets. You cannot blame your kids for being messy and stubborn. They are kids who love to explore and learn new things. So we have no choice but to understand them. You may hire a helper to make it easier for you and no need to supervise them, but the thing is you will not know what the helper is doing.

One thing that's for sure, clean it yourself and here are random tips to follow for cleaning your home.

1. Make sure to buy a washing machine that can help you clean your clothes and other things like towels, bedsheets, pillowcases, and curtains that needed to be wash at least weekly. You may wash it manually but having a good washing machine can make life easier. Wearing clean clothes that have been washed carefully is the best you can do to preserve them longer and no harmful effect on you and your family. There's an automatic washing machine for sale you can check out if you want to buy one. High efficiency, high durability, and low noise. Spotless cleaning for 24 types of stains. 2 kg of clean laundry in 14 minutes. Remember that clean clothes keep you fresh and safe.

2. Store your cleaning materials in a place where you can see all of them easy and organize. Keep them away from kids. So that when it's time for cleaning you know where to get them. Prepare all the stuff so that cleaning is smooth sailing.

3. Start decluttering. Houses can become messy and at times uncomfortable to live in when you have too much stuff scattered all around. Clothes that you haven't worn for a long time, clothes that your children have grown out, toys that are broken or no longer using, stored papers, and other stuff should be donated or sell them in order for you to remove the mess and clutter.

4. Keep things in an organized manner. Small things like school supplies, hygiene kits, utensils, and other things should be kept in proper compartments or cabinets and with labels so that it will help you locate things easily.

5. Ask your family to join you during your cleaning galore. It will be a time of bonding and at the same time, you allow them to learn how to keep your house clean and safe to live in.

6. Don't forget to clean places that are hard to reach, hidden, and more prone to dirt and germs. This can be under your sofa, carpet and the like. Walls, doorknobs, bathrooms, tables, and chairs, refrigerator, and appliances are also needed attention so make sure to clean or scrub it with disinfectant, organic or natural products to protect your family from hazardous chemicals.

Be sure to keep these things in mind during cleaning to keep you safe and have a clean place to live in. Always set a time for cleaning, follow it properly and strictly. I know it's hard to set the mood when it comes to cleaning but if you stick to your own schedule, you set for yourself, it wouldn't be hard especially if you have the motivation. This is for you and your family's safety.

Shopee identifies 4 of the biggest e-commerce trends in 2020

May 13, 2020 0 Comments
Consumers shop more often on weekdays and show an increased preference for cashless payments, while brands and sellers expand their online presence.
Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, identifies four major e-commerce trends in 2020. The retail landscape in the Philippines has been transformed due to increased social distancing efforts, such as the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine as the nation combats the spread of Covid-19. As a result, brands and sellers are venturing online in search of growth, while consumers turn to e-commerce to meet their shopping needs. Ruoshan Tao, Head of Marketing at Shopee Philippines said, “The year 2020 has changed the way we live, work, and shop. Brands and sellers across the region are stepping up their digitization efforts, with e-commerce becoming a key channel for them to sustain and grow their businesses. At the same time, consumers are increasingly going online to fulfill their everyday needs, in areas ranging from groceries to home appliances. As e-commerce takes on greater importance in people’s lives, Shopee will continue to make shopping even more social, engaging, and easy for everyone.” In the Philippines, Shopee has identified 4 key trends for e-commerce in recent months: 1. Brands and sellers are growing their e-commerce presence Brands and sellers are venturing online to boost their online presence while exploring new strategies to reach and engage consumers. ● Robust growth for Filipino sellers: As people shop for their home and essential needs online, brands, and sellers in the Gaming and Pet Care categories are seeing strong growth. In addition, Brands and sellers offering pet essentials and home appliances & accessories saw 40 times and 15 times more orders respectively than the same period last year. ● Reaching customers with live streaming: Brands and sellers are actively exploring new ways to reach consumers. Shopee has observed that the number of Shopee Live streams from brands and sellers increased by 40 times. Homegrown SMEs have successfully boosted online visibility with Shopee Live. For example, Sirods Stuffed Toys has recorded a robust number of views for its streams by showcasing popular toys and collectibles to users in real-time, enabling it to engage customers more effectively. 2. Shoppers turn to e-commerce for everyday needs At the same time, Filipinos are relying on e-commerce to meet their everyday needs as people live, work, and play from home. ● Consumers search and shop online for a wider variety of needs: Shopee has observed an increase in search and shopping activity in the past 3 months, especially for health and fashion products. This reflects an increasing reliance on e-commerce, which provides Filipinos with one-stop access to essentials, health products, and more. ○ Top searched keywords: Face masks, Dresses, Power banks, Undergarments ○ Top products: Mosquito incense, Vitamins, and supplements, cell phone cases 3. Shopping preferences evolve as consumers seek convenience on e-commerce Shopping preferences are also changing in the Philippines as consumers look for convenience in e-commerce during this period. ● Increased shopping activity on weekdays: Online shopping activity has peaked on Tuesdays in recent months, showcasing the preference among Filipinos to shop earlier in the week. Shopping activity is also the highest at 12PM and 1PM as Filipinos shop more often during lunchtime. ● Preference for cashless payments: Adoption of cashless payments is growing as consumers value speed and reduce physical interactions. Shopee has observed that users are increasingly using cashless options such as ShopeePay to pay for purchases in recent months. 4. Increased social interaction and engagement among online shoppers E-commerce has now evolved into something more than just a way to shop - it’s also become a place where people come together to interact, read content, and connect with others. Shopee has seen greater use of its in-app engagement features in the past three months as Filipinos seek to stay connected online: ● Shopee Live Chat: Shopee has seen an increase in social interactions on its platform. Over 1 million messages were sent daily on average as brands, sellers, and consumers interact with each other across the shopping journey. ● In-app games: Shopee recorded 200 million plays for its in-app games over the past three months. This is driven by users logging in daily to earn rewards and try out new in-app games such as Shopee Farm and Shopee Throw. Tao closed, “We want to make online shopping safe and convenient while staying true to our vision of delivering a social and engaging experience to our users. At the same time, we will continue to help both our sellers and buyers by providing them a seamless online shopping experience, especially during this COVID-19 crisis. Download Shopee for free through the App Store or Google Play.

Savings, Budgeting and Frugal Living Calculation Tools

May 03, 2020 0 Comments

I am a mom for nine years now and I can say that life is not easy. Going 7 years now that I decided to stay at home and be a full-time mother. I resigned from being an accounting staff which was our source of income. I only earned a minimum rate that can only provide for my daughter's needs, fare and some food to eat. We didn't have our own house, we stayed at our inlaws so I was grateful we're not obliged to pay for bills such as electricity, water, internet, and rent. But as time went by, I realized that it was not being practical. It was that we were not able to stand on our own. We should do something and keep doing our best to live the way we really want.

As I always said to my previous post, my husband decided to work abroad but only earned a minimum wage too. So to make the story short, I don't want to just stay at home and doing nothing, I want to help my husband. I started to look for something that I can have free items not for myself but for my kids. I joined giveaways and contest online - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Blogs. I, fortunately, won some that I can't imagine I was able to have. I called it being frugal. I did not spend money getting those items I won online. I also started blogging and found out that I can somehow make some money. Not that big but at least I can earn extra. So what I did, I saved that money I earned from blogging. Our expenses such as food to eat (grocery for my kids' supplies in school), fare for school service, tuition fee, government remittances ( SSS AND PAG-IBIG), and whenever we go out or we visited my parents - that's where my husband's remittances were spent.
I won a month's supply of diapers.

I am the kind of mom that I must think to "save" rather than "spend". I don't buy new clothes, shoes or whatever I want. What I always thought, I have to spend the money on what we really need. I considered my self lucky because I have sisters and inlaws that gave us presents especially my children. They gave us new clothes, shoes or food to eat. So I rather save money instead of buying everything that I already received from generous people around us, so that when the time comes like this Pandemic (Covid-19) or any emergency I have some money to keep us going. That's the power of budgeting and save a lot, we can go on with our lives even without the help of government or anyone during times of crisis.

I shared this because I want my co-mommies and daddies to be wise, let's start saving, budgeting, and be frugal when this pandemic ends. I really prayed a lot that the World comes back to normal. So that we can go back to usual, working, chatting with friends, reunion or gatherings, going to the beach, traveling and so on. If you have a lot of savings, yes you can do whatever you like but let us consider this "when you save money only in order to spend your money, you are not saving your way to success."

I found out that there's an online tool that can help us to calculate our savings and budgeting, their site is quite broad so there are many relevant opportunities. is all about saving, investing, and frugal living which will help you calculate interests in investments, loans, mortgage, and even tax and inflation. If you visit their site, you will learn a lot of topics more about finances.

In this photo, if you spend $5,150.00 on an unnecessary product or service, and you could otherwise invest that money for 10 years, then spending the $5,150.00 could cost you $1,139.18 in foregone interest earnings. This would bring the real price-tag of what you are spending your money on to $6,289.18. So the question you should ask yourself is: Is what I am spending my money on worth $6,289.18?

Saving money to buy an expensive item does not help you reach success. Once the expensive stereo, car, or fancy dress is bought, the money is gone. True saving is when you keep your money, become wealthier, increase your assets and net worth, and then become a financial success because of it.

Instead of buying your wants or unnecessary spending just to show off, why not invest it and see how much money you will gain in the long run.

In my part, I paid government remittances like Pag-big every month so that my money will gain the interest of 8% annually. The higher the amount, the higher the dividend that will be added to my savings every year.

In order to have money to save, don't just stick to one income as many people say. You may be working as a minimum wager, but if you have more time, you may start building your own small business. You can be an online seller if you don't have a physical store yet. Be a blogger or vlogger. There are so many things to do to be able to earn. You just have to be patient and have much effort.

Begin your plan to save correctly, to save more money, to maximize your savings, to change yourself from a "spender" to a "saver," to truly use saving to reach your financial success.

When the time comes you are financially stable, you can now start building your dream house, have a car and travel a lot.
